Rattanon grabs first round lead at SG Caltex Maekyung Open.

The 21-year-old Rattanon, dubbed “The Little Prince”, turned at 33 with three birdies before making an eagle at 14th, two birdies and one bogey at par-71 Namseoul Country Club. Dubbed “The Little Prince”, Rattanon has been in a good form of late including sharing 4th at the Yeangder Heritage in Taiwan last week.

Seeking for his maiden OneAsia title, he was one shot ahead of compatriot “Thai Diamond” Phachara Khongwatmai and local Hur Inhoi at the second event of the OneAsia circuit 2017.

"The key thing here is a tee-shot and I did it quite well day," he said.

"If I had missed the fairway, I would have been in trouble."

"Also, my putting has been better."

Rattanon added that apart from building on his confidence in Taiwan, he stroke the ball better this week.

"Everything seems to come together this week."

Phachara, whose nickname Petch means diamond in Thai, became happy with his round.

"Everything goes as planned. The green is quite tough here."

"You have to make sure that you put a ball on the right spot.”

The Thai Diamond, who turned 18 yesterday, tied for 18th at the Volvo China Open last week. He said that he stood a better chance this week.

“It is a bit easier than last week in China because the wind there is quite strong there.”

Danthai Booman carded a 69 with four birdies and two bogeys to share 14th with a huge group of players including Gunn Charoenkul, who fired three birdies and one bogey. Udorn Duangdecha, who mixed four birdies with four bogeys, was an even-par-7. Namchok Tantipokhakul and Poom Saksaensin each fired a 72 with Pavin Ingkhapradit two shots behind.
