Pijit takes solo lead at first round of ATGT’s Q-school

Former ATGT winner Pijit Petchkasem fired a first-round 66 at the final stage of the All Thailand Golf Tour’s Q-school in Nakhon Nayok on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old, who won the B-ing TPC CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011, fired five birdies in a bogey-free round at the par-71 Watermill Golf Club & Resort.

Thepdoin Amaranan and Ollie Roberts of England shared second with a stroke behind.

Thanatip Puaktes, who won at the course twice including last week’s victory on the Thai PGA tour, scored 68 with four birdies against alone bogey. He was joint 4th with Chirat Jirasuwan, Vetis Saenghiran, Pattarapon Lostapornpipit and Japan’s Tatsuhiko Takahashi.

Amarin Kraivixien was tied for 9th  in the 127-player field following his 69 while American Tarik Can posted an even-par 71. 

The 127-player field will be reduced to 80 and ties after 36 holes. Only top-40 players will receive the tour cards for the 2020 season.
