Donlaphatchai holds slim lead at Boonchu Ruangkit event

Nakhon Sawan-born Donlaphatchai Niyomchon took a one-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Boonchu Ruangkit Championship 2022 after posting a 6-under-par 65 on Friday.

The 31-year-old, whose round feature seven birdies and one bogey, finished the second round at 13-under for the tournament, hosted by Thai golf legend Boonchu Ruangkit.  He was one shot clear of Jakraphan Premsirigorn, who shot a sizzling 62 at the par 71 -Rancho Charnvee Resort & Country Club in Nakhon Ratchasima.

Denwit David Boriboonsub, who is last year’s Rookie of the Year, was at 11-under after carding a 7-under 64. He was tied third with Settee Prakongvech (66) and Ekpharit Wu (64).

After making a 63 and finishing round one as the leader, Charng-Tai Sudsom fell in the standing following his second round 72 with a 7-under par overall heading into Saturday.

Sangchai Kaewcharoen recarded a round of 66 and was tied 24th five other players including Sarit Suwannarut (67) and Kritchayaphol Sinchai (64).

The 4-million baht tournament is the first leg of the All Thailand Golf Tour 2022 with the winner receiving 600,000 baht and earning five world ranking points. 

With the cutline of 140, seventy players have qualified for the final two rounds.
